Bicycle Advocacy in Sumter County

We are Sumter County's advocates for safe and accessible cycling, and we have done this in numerous ways, including:

  • Assistance with the Connecting Americus report detailing an on-street network of roads that can easily be painted to create a safer, more accessible community

  • A Complete Streets resolution passed from the Americus City Council

  • 3 Feet to Pass street sign campaign

  • Bicycle safety programs with area schools

  • Annual Ride with the Mayor

  • Downtown Americus bicycle racks

  • Promoting Americus' first bicycle route and lanes, connecting from GSW to Downtown to Boone Park

  • Bicycle and helmet give-aways at Christmas and other times

  • Advocating for a future multi-use trail to foster a beautiful community that appeals to local residents, tourists, and potential employers/employees alike.
