Southwest Georgia Cycling Events and Advocacy
Join Sumter Cycling, the River Valley Regional Commission, Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, and Andersonville National Historic Site for the Prison to Peanuts Bicycle Adventure.
We encourage riders of all levels and skills to join us on this amazing opportunity to visit beautiful sites in Sumter County, Georgia, and visit Americus, Andersonville and Plains by bicycle.

Prison to Peanuts will once again start and finish in downtown Americus at Lenny's Market (110 N. Hampton St.). We plan to provide lunch and peanut butter ice cream at the finish and hope you will stay and enjoy downtown Americus.
​​Event Check-In and Start Times
On-site registration and check-in will begin at 6:30 a.m. and continue until 10:00 a.m. Please plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start time for your ride to register and check in. Ride times are as follows:
103-mile: 7:00 a.m.
67-mile: 8:00 a.m.
34-mile: 8:30 a.m.
13-mile: 10:00 a.m.

Riders will receive a T-shirt, SWAG bag, rest stops, ride support, and lunch.
Ride and Community Information
Participants are asked to sign an event waiver on the morning of the ride. There will be SAG stops (Support and Gear) with water, fruit, and snacks. There will be a support vehicle with a limited supply of water and snacks for emergencies and gear for basic mechanical issues and first aid needs.

This is a family-friendly event. Whether fast or slow, everyone is welcome to ride at their own pace. The SAG will be available to all rides, and the century ride provided that cyclists arrive at the Andersonville Rest Stop (mile 64) by noon. Folks that arrive at that rest stop at a later time will be allowed to continue self supported, but should plan to purchase snacks and drinks in Andersonville and Leslie which have convenience stores along the route. Here is a recommended century bailout route for anyone who gets to Andersonville and chooses to return to Americus more directly. All participants are required to wear a helmet.

Bring your bicycle, your family and friends, and make plans to stay in Sumter County throughout the weekend and participate in this unique event. For those coming from out of town, lodging is available across from the park at Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast or you can stay at the historic Windsor Hotel in downtown Americus.
